Salutations to the sun

Hello there. I hope that you have a good week, yes?

I am going into my annual quiet time, where the words start to slip under the covers...

...those of you who have been reading for a while now (merci infiniment!) know that I tend to shift towards the visual as the verbal crosses itself out.

And today was no exception, save for a happy surprise...

...when I opened the shutters with a clank this morning, the sun was bobbing merrily in front of my eyes...

...inviting me out to nose around...

...look deep...

...and let go a little bit.

This has been one of the more gloomy winters I have experienced during my ten in Provence...

...and I certainly was not about to let this budding opportunity to give my salutations to this sun slip beyond my breathy grasp.

Of course there were a few "technical difficulties" as I shifted buttons on my camera to switch from dusky greys to sapphire brights...

...but nothing to keep me from remembering this beauty, one that is immortelle...

...enough to make me dance, to make me dizzy, under a sweeping sky.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Pour mes lecteurs francophones en Provence:
My lovely friend and talented artist Christine Millerin is about to launch a very special workshop on the subject of "Création textile en méditation" in partnership with Isabelle Nyssen at Ms. Nyssen's Zen Atelier in Arles. Through the use of shiatsu and meditation, one will be able to untie some of the issues from the past all while using textiles to weave together a "relique" fabricated through thoughts and sensations to move forward in harmony. It sounds phenomenal. There are several dates for each three-day workshop:
February 5, 6 and 7th
March 18, 19 and 20
April 15, 16 and 17
Each workshop costs 180 Euros.
For further information, including times and location, please contact Christine at 06 70 76 80 16
or at chrismill@free.fr

*In no way is this sponsored, as always, I am just passing along something that I think might be of interest.

PS. I am having some difficulties with Blogger as of late and mysteriously lost a sizeable amount of members on Google Friend Connect overnight (a number that is more than a possible stampede towards the exit!). Of those of you that are still on Blogger, are any of you also having problems? And for those of you that have made the jump to Wordpress or your own domain do you like it? Was it hard to make the switch? Thanks for your thoughts...

You've had a very gloomy winter and we're having nothing but sunshine. We're average two days of grey skies and rain per month. It's not good. I look forward to winter so much after our long summer and I am feeling cheated this year. Thanks for sharing the beauty of Provence with us.

Oh, doggies, doggies, doggies !!! Out in the sunshine & enjoying every single moment of it!
We, of course, here in Texas are enjoying our "winter" of 70f and bright sunny skies.

Ahhh .. I love the photo of salad burnet (at least that is what I call it) a lovely plant. Am sitting here inside airport security and your post just came in, while I wait for a flight to France. Fun coincidence, seems like good energy.

Hello Heather,
Beautiful bright shots!
Yes, Google has changed things again. In 2011 when they got rid of Google Friend Connect, they kept it on for those following via blogger/google. However, they are now retiring it permanently. They want everyone to sign up with Google +. However, there are several ways to follow blogs. Bloglovin is one of them, and Feedly is another. I follow you via Feedly. Or you can have an email signup on your blog so that people can follow you that way.

It's frustrating when things change, but don't fear - your readers are not deserting you! The same thing is happening all over.

Oh, I'm so looking forward to a gloomy winter, it's so hot and bright here at the moment. But what a beautiful day you've had! And the boys look pleased to by out and about too. xx

You have the sunny spring-like weather which I experienced today. Yours (with your fresh photographs) and ours are glimpses of spring which is still early. The shiatsu and meditation are interesing combination and most appropriate.

I didn’t have any problems switching from blogger to wordpress.

Heather your photos are so beautiful.... it is a wonderful time of year to be reflective, although days like the day these photos happened are like jewels! xx

I wrote a large piece about the changes coming to Blogger Friend Connect I believe on the blog post Cairo's Colors and Contrasts - it explains why we are losing people off Friend connect - it is systemize and I too have lost followers. Check out the post as you may want to advise folks following you of what needs to happen to continue following.

I'm pleased to say I haven't lost you! But I have you bookmarked on my desktop, or something like that, one of a select band of favourites. We are hungry for blue sky here, my poor garden is so swamped. Mild though, so the spring flowers are all early.

Gloom has chased me down at times. The sun and my new grandson helps to raise my spirits. I hope you continue with some sunshine, blue skies, and lightness of being!

Loree, I think that there are very few people who would understand your "complaint" and I do! Yes, we need those shady days too...so that we can stay in and read or watch movies! :)

Kipling is usually the Rascal and Ben the Sweetie but I have to say that Kip has been behaving as of late and yes, leading the way...

Heather Robinson said...

Marsha, believe it or not it was 60F here today and that is not a good thing for the local crops!
Thought you might like to see some of the puppers, it has been a while.

Heather Robinson said...

Oooh, enjoy your time here, Suze. :)

Heather Robinson said...

Sometimes...I am not far from that...heehee. What is a mullein?! Oh dear, I am so out of my league in talking plants with you!

Heather Robinson said...

Thank you for the wishes Trudye, they were fulfilled! And my, that would be one mighty expensive Uber, non? ;)

Heather Robinson said...

Love you too, Sister. And you are always here, in my heart!

Heather Robinson said...

Oh yippeeeeee!! You are such an amazing friend. I am one lucky duck. Dear fellow readers here: La Contessa is one wonderful lady!!

Heather Robinson said...

Thank you, thank you! I am so grateful to you and Jackie (see below) for explaining things to me. Honestly, you would think that after five years of blogging I would be more in the loop but alas, no. *sigh* And I have never heard of Feedly! I follow blogs on Bloglovin but will go take a look at the "competition"! Thank you Lorrie - and for the reassurance too. My reader friends are family just like chez toi so I really don't want anyone to disappear on me unless they want to.

We have had three, threeeeee consecutive days of sun and holy canoli it changes everything!

Heather Robinson said...

That is very kind of you Joan, thank you!

Heather Robinson said...

They were Tracy, as you know, they appreciate a beautiful day as much as we do...

Heather Robinson said...

Yes, still far too early for us as well Edgar, I am worried that we won't have a winter at all.

Heather Robinson said...

It did feel like a truly wonderful gift, Jenny. I was so grateful for it!

Heather Robinson said...

Thank you so much for this and your email Jackie!

Heather Robinson said...

Same here and it is freaky.
And I am very honored to be amongst your band of favorites, Lisa! :)

Heather Robinson said...

Yes, the gloom is hard to avoid at this time of year, even in Provence, apparently and that is never the case! But these few days have been lovely.
I would love to see a photo of Baby C if you get a chance. :)

I'll send a couple!

Beautiful blue skies Heather…what a treat to be amongst it. I totally get the need to take time out and refresh. I find with each year I need to dig a bit deeper to get back into the swing of things. There is something special about this time in our lives too. Always nice to find inspiration where you least expect. One of life's lovely surprises. I hope there are many for you Heather.. xx

Oh so beautiful!!!(; Am I wrong, or has Kipling put on a little weight?(Which would be good, I think!)Bisous, Silke

Heather Robinson said...

He has gained too much weight! Not my fault either. Hmmm.... Bisous!
